Revell Germany 1/72 Berlin Airlift Aircraft 75th Anniversary w/Paint & Glue Kit
Model Airplane Depot
West Berlin was located deep in the Soviet zone of occupation. The Soviets decided to strangle this western thorn in their side by establishing a land blockade. They did, however, allow for three air corridors to Berlin's Templehof airport. The Western allies used these to provide the populace with necessary provisions and coal. During these flights, many aircraft dropped candy to thousands of children waiting at the end of the runways.
The C-54D Skymaster or "Candy Bomber" as Berlin's children called it played a crucial role during the Berlin Blockade of 1948/49. By establishing an airlift, the Western Allies succeeded in securing supplies to the trapped population of Berlin. With this model kit, you can recreate and preserve a piece of this historic event.
