Hobby Boss 1/48 A-7E "Pirate II" Kit

The A-7 "Corsair" II subsonic carrier-based attack aircraft produced by LTV was used to replace the U.S. Navy's A-4 "Skyhawk" and first entered service during the Vietnam War. Both the USAF and Air National Guard are equipped with the A-7 to replace the A-1 Air Raider, F-100 Super Sabre, and F-105 Raider. It was exported to Greece in the 1970s and to Portugal and Thailand in the late 1980s. Based on the excellent airframe design of the A-7, the Water Company even later derived the famous F-8 "Crusader" supersonic fighter. The A-7 was the world's first combat aircraft equipped with a head-up display, an inertial navigation unit, and a turbofan engine.

The A-7E, a carrier-based version of the Air Force's A-7D standard, produced a total of 529 aircraft.
